I’m a 59 year old Black man who just finished reading Night Train to Nashville.
Through Paula’s book I found new heroes, dozens of historical insights, and a profoundly deeper understanding of my culture, which has become the American Culture.
Paula Hope Blackman’s stunning chronical of events and masterful storytelling will take you on a wild ride through the most turbulent time in American History and you’ll appreciate every second on the Night Train To Nashville.
Thank you for this historical, cultural treasure, for reintroducing me to the great artists: their stories and their struggles in full context, and for introducing me to the brave and savvy giants behind the scenes, especially your kin, ‘Blackie’ Blackman.
All aboard the Night Train to Nashville!
Wow! Thank you, Brandon. Throughout the 15 years I spent working on this book, there were many times I felt like giving up. Times I wondered if I was crazy to have given up a lucrative day job to pursue a goal as lofty as publication. And yet, to read your words and know that this true story touched your soul in some small way, that is what we creatives live for and more importantly, what everyday heroes like Gab and Sou lived for – to teach us how to live a life worthy of remembering long after we’re gone.
